Rear View Mirror Assessment
This assessment helps you identify your top strengths and challenges by reviewing your recent real-life activities. Looking in the "rear view mirror" allows you to observe which tasks gave you energy and which drained you—a key step toward living on mission with greater alignment.

Instructions:
Set aside 30–45 minutes for this exercise. Use a calendar, journal, or planner to help you remember what you did over the past 10–14 days. Be honest and specific. Don't just think about what you accomplished— consider how each activity made you feel during and after.

Part 1

Activity Inventory: List 10–12 tasks, conversations, or responsibilities from the past 10–14 days. These can include work, ministry, home, or volunteer activities.

Example: Led a team meeting | Responded to urgent emails | Prepared a Bible study | Mentored a younger leader | Handled a conflict with a team member

For each activity, indicate:

  • Did it energize you (E), drain you (D), or feel neutral (N)?
  • What emotions did you feel during/after?
  • Was it a good use of your strengths?

Part 2: Pattern Recognition

Review your chart. What patterns do you see? | Which types of activities consistently energized you? | Which types of activities consistently drained you?

Part 3: Strengths-based Application

Final Thought:

God designed you uniquely. Recognizing your energizing activities is a key step to living a focused and fruitful life. Don't ignore what the rear view mirror shows you—use it to steer forward with clarity.
