Coffee Cup Christians: Help Yourself

American culture revels in the self-made success stories. Those who beat the odds and relied only on their own strengths and determination. The prevailing thought is, "God helps those who help themselves." Is this what we, as Christians, should hold to?

We all have heard the sayings which make their way on coffee cups, t-shirts, and posters. We are even guilty of using these phrases to explain things with good intentions, problem is, they may not be what God promises...worse yet, they may not even be biblical.
