Jesus in Real Life

Jesus in Real Life

Following Jesus is more than knowing what we believe. It changes how we spend our time, read Scripture, pray, handle relationships, deal with our struggles, use our resources, and participate in the church. Jesus in Real Life is a practical journey toward removing the obstacles that keep Jesus at the edges of our lives—and learning to live with Him at the center.

Start here

Jesus didn't invite us merely to learn about Him. He invited us to follow Him.

Take what God is showing you through Jesus in Real Life and put it into practice—one day, one decision, and one step at a time.

How to Make the Most of Your Time

Bring Your Bible

Throughout this series, we're going to spend time learning not only what the Bible says, but how to engage Scripture for ourselves. Bring your Bible with you on Sundays. Write in it. Mark it up. Ask questions. Let it become part of the way you follow Jesus in real life.

Invite Someone Into the Journey

Most of us know someone who has wondered what following Jesus actually looks like—or who has discovered that knowing about Jesus and living with Jesus are not quite the same thing. Think of one person you could invite to join you.

You don't need a sales pitch. Just ask: “Would you come with me?”

Come Ready

Bring your Bible. Bring your questions. Bring your journal. And most importantly, come ready to discover what can happen when following Jesus moves from something we talk about to the way we actually live.

This Week

How Do I Actually Read This Thing?

Scripture: Luke 24:13–35

The Bible can feel intimidating, confusing, or so familiar that we stop really listening.
On the road to Emmaus, two disciples knew pieces of Scripture but didn't yet understand the story those pieces were telling. Jesus helped them see Scripture as an unfolding story that ultimately leads to Him.

We don't open the Bible merely looking for a useful thought for the day. We come ready to read carefully, see Jesus clearly, and respond faithfully.

This Week: Before you read, begin with a simple prayer: “God, show me what is actually here.” Slow down enough to notice what the passage actually says before deciding what it means for you.

Carry with you: Listen to His Word.

Week 01

Do I Actually Know Jesus?

Following Jesus begins with more than knowing things about Him. In John 1, two disciples are introduced to Jesus—and then Jesus invites them to come and see for themselves. This week, we're asking a simple but important question:

Do I actually know Jesus, or do I mostly know about Him?

This Week

  • Read John 1:35–42.
  • Spend time reading one of the Gospels.
  • Pay attention to what Jesus says, does, and cares about.
  • Ask yourself: How am I personally responding to Him?
