Dr. Ben D. Craver

Dr. Craver is a Professor of Religion and Philosophy and Coordinator of Religion Programs at Wayland Baptist University’s San Antonio campus. Prior to that, he was Executive Director and Dean at Wayland’s Albuquerque, New Mexico, campus.
Ben has been a pastor for more than 20 years, serving five Baptist churches in Texas. In addition, he has been called as interim pastor of ten churches, seven in Texas and three in New Mexico. A graduate of East Texas State University (B.B.A.), he also holds both Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Southwestern Seminary. In addition to his Wayland duties, Ben serves as Command Chaplain, Air Component Command, Texas State Guard. He was deployed in support of Texas, Oklahoma, and Indiana Army National Guard units during Hurricane Harvey in August 2017. He and his wife, Ginny, who serves as an Academic Advisor at Wayland, make their home in San Antonio and are members of Trinity Baptist Church. They have four grown children and five grandchildren.
